Is a law allowing to marry many wives more Christian than same-sex marriage law?
Despite Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta signed the law allowing marrying multiple wives without consulting existing spouses a year ago, the discussion on that issue arose again following the controversy about the decision to allow gay marriages in the US. The thing is that Barack Obama is about to visit Kenya at the end of this month to open the Global Entrepreneurship Summit.
Irungu Kangata, a lawmaker in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s The National Alliance (TNA) party, has warned American president against promoting gay rights in Kenya: “we are telling Barack Obama when he comes to Kenya this month and he tries to bring the abortion agenda, the gay agenda, we shall tell him to shut up and go home.”
Deputy president William Ruto added some heat telling that “homosexuality is against the plan of God, God did not create man and woman so that men would marry men and women marry women,” terming gay marriages unchristian.
At the same time polygamy is generally not accepted by modern Christianity.

Under the new law, anyone who enters into a same-sex marriage or civil union can be sentenced to 14 years in prison while any such partnerships entered into abroad are deemed “void”.
