Police Officer’s Son Killed By Explosive Device

An 11 year old son of a dead police officer has been reportedly killed by an explosive device suspected to be a grenade at a village near Makurdi International Market, Makurdi, Benue State.
Adolphus Akua was the son of late Akua Mjoko who until his death was an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).
According to Sunday Vanguard, the boy’s father died a few months ago and after his death, his children have been dying mysteriously too. The deceased Adolphus was said to be clearing the family’s living room when he stumbled on the grenade in one of the bags in their home. Unaware the danger lurking in the bag, Adolphus allegedly take the explosive outside taking it for a play thing. He was playing with it alongside other children in the neighbourhood when the devise went off.
Adolphus body was said to have shattered after the explosion while a neighbour’s daughter, Torkase Anza was seriously wounded.
The Benue State Police Command confirmed the incident through its Police Public Relations Officer. The command was said to have sent the Police Bomb Squad to evacuate explosive materials that might not have been returned by the late ASP.
Police investigation revealed that the late ASP did not return the canisters assigned to him while on duty and his family members were unaware.
In avoidance of a re-occurrence, the Benue State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hyacinth Dagala has directed that no officer in the command should be allowed to take explosive devices home.
The ASP Akua Mjoko’s last posting was at Guma Area Command; there he was until his death.
Recently,a group of five children were reportedly tortured, murdered and buried by a 6-year-old boy during a kidnap game in Chihuahua, Mexico.
A team of investigators on the incident found out that the toddler, Christopher Raymundo Marquez went missing and his lifeless body was found only three days after he was murdered.
Christopher was lured by his kith on the pretext of having fun and collecting firewood at the side of the stream.
It was gathered that once the victim got to the place, the children tied the unsuspecting boy up, almost asphyxiated him with a stick, stoned him until he died and even after that stabbed him in the back.
