Walker is expected to formally enter the race Monday, but he may have jumped the shark with a premature social media message.
The message read “Scott is in. Are you? Join our team today.” The tweet included a photo of the governor with “Scott Walker is running for president” superimposed on it.
The tweet has since been deleted. Walker’s camp may not have been at fault in the matter.
“We're looking into today's issue, and we've determined the Walker team was not at fault,” a Twitter spokesman said in a statement to Fox News.
Throughout the rest of the day, Walker aides remained adamant about his upcoming announcement Monday.
Rick Wiley, another aide, replied to a message about Walker's announcement, saying "Set your DVR for 5pm on Monday bro, it will be epic."
Walker is expected to jump into the crowded GOP race for the Republican president nomination. Walker has spent months touring the country, trying to court voters on his way to entering the competition.
Fox News’ Jason Donner, Tyler Speicher and The Associated Press contributed to this report.
