2015 polls: INEC abandoned its responsibility to candidates —Emerhor

UGHELLI—DELTA State All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in the 2015 general elections, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, of abandoning its responsibilities to candidates who were cheated at the polls and by passing the burden to the candidates to prove their case at the tribunals.

Meanwhile, counsel to the APC in the case brought against the party and others before a Delta State High Court sitting in Asaba, has described the ruling as democracy in action.

Valentine Onojeghuo, while reacting to the ruling by Justice C. Olatoregun-Isola, said: “The judgment has put paid to the scheming by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and established the fact that we conducted our primaries in line with the provision of the Electoral Act and our candidates were validly nominated as candidates of the party during the primaries.”

Emerhor, said: “INEC ought not to have declared results that did not emanate from the card readers.”
