Manchester City are unlikely to meet Liverpool's £50million valuation of contract rebel Raheem Sterling, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The Reds are bracing themselves for a third bid from Manuel Pellegrini's men after two rejected two offers already.
However, the contract saga surrounding the England international looks set to continue as City are understood to not be considering a third offer.
Meanwhile, Sterling continues to test Liverpool's patience after calling in sick to training.
The striker has been told that me must take part in their pre-season tour having previously told manager Brendan Rodgers he did not want to be involved.
Reds new-boy Danny Ings has revealed why he joined Liverpool over Manchester United.
